HandoutPosted by njsux (Shrewsbury, NJ, United States) on 7 July 2009 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. Our stranded bird has an enormous (by bird standards) growth on his side, which is why he's having such trouble flying. We took him to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital where a very nice young vet told us that, as long as the mother continued to take care of him, the best place for our new friend was with his mother, so that's what we're doing. She (the vet) told us we could supplement mom's worms with a little cat food, so we're doing that, too. Cat food - who'd a thunk it? The growth, by the way, is a swollen air sac, probably sustained when falling out of the nest.
